An Alternative Antenatal Group in Colchester: The Doula Date

If you’ve been searching for a fun, sociable, and alternative pregnancy group and antenatal course in Colchester - somewhere you can actually relax, laugh, and feel understood - you might just have found your people.

As some of you already know, I’m part of Colchester Doula Cuddle - a collective of women who are passionate about supporting you through pregnancy, birth, and those early weeks of parenthood. We’re a group of birth and postnatal doulas who believe that every birthing person deserves to feel informed, supported, and genuinely cared for.

Over the years, we’ve all heard from families who’ve had questions that feel too “out there” or “silly” to ask their midwife or GP - even though they’re completely normal.

So we decided to create something a bit different.

Introducing: The Doula Date

Our monthly Doula Date events are relaxed 4- week get-togethers where you can ask our experienced doulas your burning questions in a cosy, sociable setting - think mocktails, good conversation, and a safe space to explore whatever’s on your mind.

Each session is hosted by two different members of the Colchester Doula Cuddle, and every week we focus on a new theme in order to help you feel more informed, confident and calm about your choices in birth and the postpartum. We cover birth preparation, postnatal planning, comfort measures during labour, and feeding choices.

The Details

🗓 When: 4-week course, Thursday evenings

📍 Where: Church Street Tavern, Colchester

⏰ Time: 6.30–8.30pm

🎟 Tickets: £129 per birthing person - includes a mocktail or soft drink, entry into our prize draw, and a goodie bag on your first visit! Each ticket includes birthing partner.

The feedback we’ve had so far has been incredible. People tell us how much they’ve enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, how refreshing it feels to connect with others who are going through the same stage of life, and how much they’ve learned in such a relaxed environment.

Why We Do It

I’ve absolutely loved co-creating and running these events alongside some of the loveliest, and most passionate women I’ve ever met. There’s something really special about seeing people open up, laugh together, and leave feeling more confident and connected.
