Father with Newborn Baby

FAQs

  • How do I book a session?
You can contact me via my website, email, or social media. We'll arrange a free initial chat to talk about what support you're looking for and how I can help.
  • Do you offer packages or one-off sessions?
I offer flexible options including one-off visits and blocks of hours. We can tailor things to suit your needs.
  • Where do you work?
I'm based in Great Horkesley, Colchester and offer in person support in Essex and Suffolk. Some feeding support can also be provided virtually if needed.
  • Are you insured and trained?
Yes. I'm fully insured and trained as a postnatal doula and infant feeding coach. I regularly update my knowledge and work to national best-practice guidance.
  • What if I'm not sure what kind of support I need?
That's completely normal! Get in touch for a chat, and we can talk through what's going on and figure out the kind of support that might help.
  • What does a postnatal doula do?
A postnatal doula provides emotional, practical, and informational support after your baby is born. I can help with infant care, support your recovery, offer a listening ear, and take care of light household tasks so you can rest and focus on bonding with your baby.
  • What kind of practical help do you offer?
I can help with baby care, preparing meals or snacks, tidying up, caring for older siblings, running errands, and helping you get more rest. I work with you to decide what's most helpful.
  • How is a postnatal doula different from a midwife or health visitor?
Midwives and health visitors focus on medical checks and assessments. A postnatal doula is non-medical and provides hands-on support, reassurance, and care tailored to your needs at home, for as long as you need.
  • Do you support partners too?
Absolutely. I support the whole family. Many partners find is reassuring to have someone on hand to answer questions and share ideas during this transition.
  • What does an infant feeding coach do?
I provide non-judgemental, evidence-based support for all kinds of infant feeding: breastfeeding, bottle feeding, combination feeding, and expressing. I work with your goals, and help you feel confident and informed.
  • What happens in a feeding support session?
We'll talk about your concerns, observe a feed, and work together to create a plan that support your feeding goals. I follow up afterwards with notes or resources to help you.
  • I'm not sure if breastfeeding is going well - can you help?
Yes. I can assess a feed, help with positioning and latch, talk through challenges like pain, low supply, or fussiness, and help you find strategies that work for you and your baby.
  • Do you support bottle feeding and formula feeding?
Yes. I support all feeding choices. Whether you're formula feeding, mixed feeding, or want to know more about responsive bottle feeding, I'm here to guide and support you.
  • Can I book a session before the baby arrives?
Of course. My 1:1 Prep for Feeding sessions are a great way to feel more prepared and ask any questions in advance. We can talk through what to expect, common myths, and how to spot if feeding is going well.
