Infant feeding

What to expect from me

In the early days, feeding can feel overwhelming and exhausting and it is easy to doubt yourself. You don't have to feel like you are alone in your feeding journey; speaking to a trained professional can put your mind at ease and help boost your confidence.

As an Infant Feeding Coach I can help you prep for feeding in pregnancy, and once baby is born I can support you in your feeding journey whether that may be breast, bottle or mixed feeding.

As a dedicated volunteer in the infant feeding team at Colchester maternity unit I meet many women who have given birth sometimes as recently as a few hours prior, and are looking for feeding advice, support with latch and positioning, and generally a listening ear and reassurance. I am extremely passionate about offering support to new and expectant parents and as a breastfeeding parent of two children I can relate to the ups and downs of this brand new journey.

  • the ideal latch for breast and bottle

  • feeding positions for breast and bottle

  • bottle prep

  • mixed feeding

  • is my baby getting enough milk?

  • ongoing support and signposting

  • debrief on any previous breastfeeding experience

  • your 'village'

Cost:

Home visit £38

Feeding check in 1:1 support:

If you are feeling unsure about your current feeding journey, experiencing any issues or simply need some reassurance I can visit you or work with you via video call.

In this session I will observe a feed, talk through how feeding has been going so far and how you  hope to continue to feed in the future.

I will help ensure baby is feeding in a good sustainable position, provide you with information and options on positioning to try going forward, as well as check baby has a good latch.

Working on these two aspects will help make sure baby is taking enough milk, is comfortable, and that you are not in any discomfort if breastfeeding.

I am available for one week after this session to answer any questions by message.

Cost:

Home visit and 1 week of messaging support £44

Follow up visits £35
