Support at home

What to expect from me

I know how it feels to bring home a new baby - everything has changed and you feel like you have so much to learn. Life carries on around you but you are needing time to recover, to adjust and learn how to look after this new bundle of joy in your life.

As a postnatal doula I am here to help lighten the mental and physical load, help you feel understood and heard, and remind you that you can do this and your instincts as a parent are so strong.

Working across Colchester and north Essex/Suffolk I act as a support system for you and your family. Each family's idea of support is different and yours may even change as we get into the swing of things.

I am currently a mentored doula through Doula UK and completed my postnatal doula training through Younique Postnatal.

In a session with you I can:

  • look after baby while you make a call, have a nap, eat some food, take a shower etc.

  • talk through any concerns you might have, or be a listening ear if things are feeling tough or celebrate your happy moments with you!

  • make a healthy, yummy snack for you, make you a cup of tea and make sure you drink it while it is hot! I can also prepare a meal for you if this is planned in advance.

  • spend time with your older children while you feed or bond with your baby, but also can take the baby while you are with your other children.

  • as a trained infant feeding coach, I can offer feeding support whether that is bottle or breastfeeding, and can reassure or signpost you if you need further assistance in this area.

  • take you to appointments if you are not able to drive, and I will attend appointments or go for walks with those who would just like the support and company

Each session may look different to the next - it all depends on what your priority for the day is. And if you don't know what it is you need, no problem! My goal is to make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible on the day.

How to book:

I offer a free initial chat as a chance for you to ask any questions about the service I provide and this can be in person or via video call.

Choosing postnatal support is a very personal choice - we are all different and we absolutely want you to find someone who is the right fit. We suggest you meet with a few of us to ensure this happens.

My support does not need to be booked during pregnancy, sometimes people like to see how they get on once baby has arrived and then make that decision. Some people like to know support is on its way when a partner goes back to work, or a grandparent has to go home. My offer of support isn't just for the newborn period - I support people up to a year after birth.

For a free, no obligation chat to find out more about my offerings, and to see if I am a good fit, please do contact me via the website, email or social media. I look forward to hearing from you.

Mother Playing with Baby

Ginny was a great help during the early days with our newborn. She is very
easy to get along with, flexible in her support, knowledgeable, and warm-
hearted when you need it most after birth. You can see Ginny has a genuine
passion for helping families navigate post-natal life, which my baby and I felt
while she was supporting us. We highly recommend Ginny, and any family will
be lucky to have her help.
